IN DEPTH: Knowledge Management and Networked Environments: Leveraging Intellectual Capital in Virtual Business Communities by Madanmohan Rao Tuesday, May 06, 2003 Knowledge Management and Networked Environments: Leveraging Intellectual Capital in Virtual Business Communities Edited by Alfred Beerli, Svenja Falk and Daniel Diemers. Accenture/AMACOM Books 2003 (243 pages) With contributions from 13 writers -- most of whom are consultants at Accenture in Europe -- this compilation covers a wide range of KM topics including the new domains of customer knowledge opened up by e-commerce, business innovation and strategy, information quality, and prospects for individual knowledge workers. Alfred Beerli is a Switzerland-based financial services consultant at Accenture, and Svenja Falk directs its Knowledge Centre Network in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Daniel Diemers is from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The material, in distinctly academic style, is presented in 10 chapters; with a 24-page list of references is provided as well. The book could do with tighter editing, though, especially in tying together the various themes. Read the full review at Destination KM |
